For the first time, Alpine is offering customers such an advanced customization program, with almost unlimited combinations to offer each customer “their” totally unique Alpine.
Building on the continued success of the A110 since 2018, Alpine engineers imagined what the ultimate road-going version of this iconic model could look like. Thus, the A110 R Ultime was born from the heart of Alpine engineering.
Given the extreme specifications in terms of performance, the project was initially expected to remain at the prototype stage. But the desire to create a unique and passionate vehicle for top-performance enthusiasts quickly took hold of the team. The car was therefore designed around two main axes: sportiness and exclusivity.
The engineers were convinced that they could create a high-performance version using Alpine’s signature strengths: lightness and aerodynamics. The team also drew on its 8 years of experience racing at the highest level in GT4.
Beyond its sporty qualities, the A110 R Ultime, of which 110 examples will be built, was a real opportunity for the brand to develop its know-how with an extreme customisation programme. For the first time, Alpine designers are offering their customers the opportunity to accompany them in a genuine co-creation process: the Atelier Sur-Mesure programme.
Assembled in Dieppe, the birthplace of the brand,
the A110 R Ultime embodies the ultimate in performance, exclusivity and refinement, according to Alpine. The pinnacle of this version of the A110 is destined to leave an indelible mark on the design of future vehicles, starting with the electric A110 planned for late 2026.
When designing the A110 R Ultime, engineers were faced with a dilemma: how to push the performance of an already highly-capable sports car even further without going beyond the limits of homologation? To answer this question, the Alpine teams, take by their test driver Laurent Hurgon, put themselves in the shoes of a racing team and adjacent themselves with the best partners in motorsport.
To further increase agility and cornering speed,
all the car’s strong elements have been redesigned: the engine, chassis, braking system and aerodynamics. The vehicle is stock with a new DCT6 gearbox capable of managing this additional power.
The aluminium chassis makes it one of the lightest sports cars in the world. The suspensions are completely redesigned with new Ohlins TTX shock absorbers adjustable for height, compression and rebound. The new 18-inch forged wheels at the front (10 mm wider than those of the A110 R) and 19-inch at the rear feature an exclusive design and optimised mass. The braking system has been improved with larger diameter bi-material discs fitted with racing pads. The tyres are Michelin PS2 CUP tyres developed specifically for the A110 R Ultime.
Aerodynamics have been redefined with a reduction of 160 kg in downforce compared to the A110 R. Optimised for track use, the car features a flexible foil in addition to the front splitter, fins on the front bumper and appendages on the rear bumper. Cooling is provided from above thanks to two air intakes on the front bonnet and two further outlets. Completing these improvements are a rear wing and an adjustable double spoiler, as well as a ducktail on the waistline of the bodywork.
The engine features new forged pistons and new racing connecting rods. The turbo is optimised with a redesigned crankcase and new bearings. In addition, the engine map has been optimised for a RON 102 octane rating, which increases the A110 R Ultime’s power output to 345 hp (254 kW) (or 325 hp with RON 98) for peak power at 6,000 rpm. Thanks to its DCT6 gearbox, it delivers a maximum torque of 420 Nm available from 3,200 rpm, i.e. 80 Nm more than the A110 R Turini version, for a weight equivalent to the latter of 3.2 kg/hp.
The result is undeniable:
the A110 R Ultime is around 20 seconds faster than the A110 R on the legendary Nordschleife, placing it in a category of sports cars that are usually much more powerful.
The exclusivity of the A110 R Ultime is also reflected in terms of design, with a new, richer and more exclusive customer experience for total immersion in the world of Alpine.
Each customer can personalise their A110 R Ultime down to the last detail according to their tastes and desires, just like the great haute jewellery brands do. Thanks to prestigious collaborations with Sabelt and Poltrona Frau, Alpine’s Atelier Sur-Mesure personalisation offer presents an unprecedented diversity. New possibilities for combining exterior and interior harmonies have been created, including 28 body colours, 10 leather colours and 14 shades of Alcantara. On the exterior, it is also possible to treat many elements in body colour: carbon aerodynamic parts, the bonnet, the roof and the rear window. With Poltrona Frau, Alpine’s designers have worked on the interior with special types and shades of leather and specific finishes. Thus, all areas of the passenger compartment such as the seat shells, door panels, console, dashboard or handles are covered in very high-quality leather and Alcantara.
Finally, to celebrate the brand’s defining colour, the 110 A110 R Ultime models include 30 in a version called “La Bleue”, which features a two-tone blue gradient exterior paint and an exclusive black and blue leather interior.
