What is hair tattooing?

Hair tattooing is a non-surgical micropigmentation technique to conceal hair loss. The effect is achieved when pigments of different shades are introduced into the skin and using a different angle of penetration, to achieve the most realistic result possible.

Scalp micropigmentation is also used to hide scars, give the appearance of thicker hair, and create a shaved head look. The latter is especially attractive for those people with total alopecia who are looking to conceal it and cover their heads.

This non-surgical option is also often recommended for those with symptoms of alopecia and hair thinning. In these cases, it can restore the feeling of natural hair and provide good results.

How long does scalp micropigmentation last?

Each person reacts differently to pigmentation. Therefore, it is difficult to establish a period with certainty and it is always advisable to consult a specialist first.

However, it is more common for scalp micropigmentation to last between 3 and 4 years. After this time, it is more likely that you will have to go back for a touch-up.

Trichopigmentation in Kazan. Hair tattoo

If it weren’t for the English navigator James Cook, who brought the Polynesian word “tattoo” (picture) to Europe in late 1773, along with a live native painted with colorful patterns, it’s unlikely that people would be signing up for rich pigmentation (also known as permanent head tattooing) today.

Trichopigmentation (micropigmentation) is a cosmetic procedure of introducing special pigments into the scalp to create a visual effect of thick hair and masking defects of the hair, and skin, “painting over” bald spots and bald patches. And it is often called permanent because it gives a continuous and stable effect. For example, permanent eyebrow tattooing is well-known to modern women. Which fixes a bright, elegant, and “indelible” eyebrow for a year or longer.

MODERN TECHNOLOGY OF MEDICAL RICH PIGMENTATION

First, the area where the procedure will be performed is determined, a sketch is made and the color, and shade of organic (azo dyes, phthalocyanines, indigo) and inorganic (titanium dioxide, iron oxide) coloring agents are selected. Then the pigments are introduced into the upper layer of the dermis with a special machine (needles with a diameter of 0.18-0.25 mm with a special sharpening) to a depth of 0.3-0.5 mm. Since the hair roots are located much lower, the dye does not create any difficulties for their natural growth. The procedure is usually carried out in 2-3 sessions, which take several hours. It is painless in itself since the upper layer of the skin (there are few nerve endings) is insensitive to microscopic pricks.

Redness, slight inflammation of the skin, and peeling last for several days after the procedure, and pigmentation lightens. After a couple of weeks, your medical tattoo returns to normal: a clear pattern of follicles is formed, which, for example, creates the effect of a “shaved head” in men. After the work of our clinic specialists, the pigment never spreads even on thin and oily skin, and the background of thick hair looks natural. It is often impossible to identify a “fake” even from a close distance. And the imitation lasts at least one and a half to two years.

Where is the best place to get a permanent head tattoo?

But the most important thing is professional skills.

Simply put, the doctor’s hands. Few people know that an experienced transplant surgeon can almost instantly determine the depth of the patient’s hair root, although this is all individual and counts in millimeters. The amplitude of his movements when working with micro punches and implanters, which are used in hair transplantation, is verified literally to the micron. No salon tattoo experience can replace such professional intuition and motor skills. After all, the pigment is applied with springy point movements every 1-2 millimeters. Moreover, to a certain depth, for several hours in a row. And it’s not just that completely different pigments and tools are used to apply a tattoo and imitate the background of hair. Firstly, the doctor conducts diagnostics and takes into account contraindications. Secondly, micro-pigmentation is often used to “polish” the results of hair transplantation – drawing, for example, the frontal zone, “darkening” the scar from the suture operation.
